Welcome to Fruit BioTECH 2017
On behalf of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) and the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you III. Fruit Biotech Meeting. The symposium will be held at the Rixos Downtown Hotel in Antalya-Turkey, from 27th March to the 31th of March, 2017.
The ISHS commissions/sections associated with this symposium are;
• Commission Molecular Biology and In Vitro Culture
• Section Pome and Stone Fruits
• Workgroup Biotechnology of Horticultural Species
Turkey is an agricultural country and has a considerable amount of agricultural production potential in terms of soil, climate and water resources. Forest land occupies about 42 percent of the country, and 40 percent of agricultural land is occupied by field crops, fruit-trees and vegetable crops.Turkey is an important fruit producer country. Turkey’s fresh fruit & vegetable production is approximately 47 million tons. What is remarkable with the Turkish fresh fruit industry is not only the great diversity in the number of fruits grown but also the astonishing quantity of the total produce, about 20 million tons . The fresh produce grown in Turkey mainly consists of grape-like fruits, pomefruits, stone fruits and citrus fruits.
This symposium is able to offer not only an attractive scientific program but also an interesting social environment in Antalya which is known as Turkish Riviera.
The symposium is organized under the umbrella of ISHS for the third time after Germany and New Zealand.. We intend to bring together researchers, farmers and people from the industry to share new knowledge and information on fruit biotech. The symposium is planned to focus on a wide range of fruit biotech aspects including: genome sequence, biotic and abiotic stress, plant development, health and flavor, ripening, tissue culture and transformation, molecular markers and emerging technologies.
We expect to create interdisciplinary discussions and communication between scientists, farmers and people from the industry. We will improve the knowledge of the current situation of the fruit biotech studies.
We are looking forward to seeing you in March 2017 in Antalya, Turkey and thank you in advance for participating and contributing to this symposium.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee
